Robert Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski is another name coming up in the news in recent times. He has a long history of being linked to Real Madrid. This summer is no different. According to reports, the Polish hitman would like to come to Real Madrid in what could be his last chance.

The Bayern striker is 32 now, and his next contract is likely to be the last one. His current contract with Bayern ends in 2023. Although he can possibly sign another extension at Bayern, a move to Real can be a viable option. He was close to joining Madrid back in 2014 but ultimately chose Bayern.

There are obvious reasons why this transfer can be helpful. If Mbappe doesn’t come this summer, Lewandowski can be a brilliant short-term solution. Real Madrid lacks a goalscoring front-line, as Benzema is the only reliable goalscorer they have. This way, Lewandowski can be used in a two-striker formation with Benzema. Ancelotti used a similar system in his first spell, with Ronaldo and Benzema as the two strikers upfront.

In Lewandowski, Real Madrid will have a sensational goal scorer who has proved himself at the highest stage time and again. So much so that he was a Ballon d’Or contender last year and is on the list again this year.

Although there are some gambles considering his salary and age, his world-class status should be more than enough to make him a worthy target.
