Real Madrid: 3 former players we wish Real had going into 2021-22
2. CRISTIANO RONALDO
Real Madrid’s major problem since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo has been scoring goals. Karim Benzema aside, no other forward has yet set their best foot forward. And to solve that problem in Madrid, there couldn’t have been a choice better than the man himself, Cristiano Ronaldo, who very recently won the Golden Boot for his 5 goals in the European Championships.
Cristiano Ronaldo was very recently linked to Real Madrid for a possible reunion and in my opinion, that wouldn’t have been the worst of things for the club right now. I know that he is a 36-year-old forward. But with all honesty, he isn’t your regular 36-year-old. He still is sharp in his dribbling, the iconic Ronaldo chop especially, and is a deadly finisher. In fact, I previously chose him as a possible alternative to Kylian Mbappe to solve Madrid’s problems in front of the goal.
Ronaldo would undoubtedly be a perfect fit for Don Carlo’s side. He is one part of Carlo Ancelotti’s beloved attacking trio of Bale, Benzema and Cristiano, BBC in short. With Benzema still in the side, Ronaldo would fill up a crucial void in Real Madrid’s attack, the left-wing. Right now, Vinicius Junior is Carlo Ancelotti’s best shot. That is if no other alternate forwards are signed by the time the transfer window closes.
Vinicius’s weakest link in play has been his finishing. He has it all, pace, dribbling skills, ability to find himself in decent space. The only thing letting him down over and over again is his finishing. And that is where our former Galactico shines. Having him in the squad could mean so much for the young attackers like Vini and Rodrygo. They’d literally be learning from one of the best to have ever played the game. Lastly, there is no measure to how much I wished Cristiano was still with us!
