Real Madrid are still a work in progress under Carlo Ancelotti. The manager is looking at every single player and finalising who is in his plans and who isn’t. Here, I’m going to try and predict which players will stay around and contribute to the team.

There are certain squad rules which are to be followed by a club while deciding the squad for an upcoming season. According to the rules of LaLiga, a club is allowed to have a total of 25 first-team players in the squad for a season including 3 Non-European Union (Non-EU) players exceeding which the club has to face certain consequences. These consequences are generally in the form of a fine or penalty, and sometimes even a transfer ban as decided by the board of directors of the league.

So without any more delay, let’s get started.

1. Real Madrid Goalkeepers:

Firstly, the main man between the post is going to be Thibaut Courtois. It would be no surprise that Ancelotti would play him very regularly. The backup goalkeeper would be Andriy Lunin. Courtois would be playing in almost every Real Madrid match and would have maximum minutes in his name, while we can see Lunin playing a few games under Ancelotti.

Even though there were reports that Lunin had asked for a loan move to get some regular playing time, it doesn’t seem like a possibility anymore given that Diego Altube has joined Fuenlabrada. Real Madrid would surely need a backup, and Lunin is good enough to provide that.
