Real Madrid are always on the hunt for the best young players in the world, but they have probably learned from their mistake of spending too much money on unproven players. The name of the game is bargains, such as Takefusa Kubo and Brahim Diaz in recent windows.

Eduardo Camavinga does not look like a bargain at first glance. The Rennes midfielder quickly jumped on Real’s radar in Fall 2019 and further enhanced his reputation that season, to the point where clubs like Bayern Munich, PSG, and Manchester United have also shown interest in the talented 18-year-old.

With the current economic situation and Real Madrid pinching every penny for Kylian Mbappe, signing Camavinga, even at half price from his potential fee last summer, seems out of reach for Los Blancos. They already have Antonio Blanco and Fede Valverde in midfield behind the old guard, and Martin Odegaard is very much an option, too.

Could Real Madrid sign three of the world’s best young players by 2022?

He is reportedly willing to wait until January when there are six months left on his contract, and then he will sign for free in the forthcoming summer 2022 transfer window.

The year 2022 could thus be a big year for Real Madrid. There will be the Bernabeu and potentially Mbappe, Camavinga, and/or Erling Haaland. They are the three most coveted young players on the planet and have been squarely on Real’s radar as the top three possible signings since 2020.

Camavinga, as we saw in 2020-2021, still has work to do, but he is a great all-around midfielder who dribbles, defends, and progresses the ball. He has serious scoring upside and growing technical qualities, and he is already advanced at reading the game.

Real Madrid would have to find space for Camavinga in midfield, but a player of his quality will always find space. Los Blancos could not deny signing Camavinga for free, just as they jumped at the chance to sign David Alaba this summer. Camavinga, Valverde, Blanco, and Odegaard could form the next great midfield at the Bernabeu,
