Real Madrid has lost their veteran central defender Sergio Ramos and is on the verge of losing yet another – Raphael Varane. As such, the club cannot afford to think of swapping a defensive asset. The risks of that would be very high, so the next player on this list is from that section of the squad that currently has several potential prospects, and swapping one of them for a defensive addition would make sense.

Real Madrid’s midfield, to say the least, is overcrowded. The regular starting trio of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Casemiro are too important to experiment with. For rotational needs, Fede Valverde has stepped up as the best midfielder beyond the mentioned three.

This season though, there would be another attacking midfielder who could be instrumental under Carlo Ancelotti, he is Martin Odegaard. With so many candidates in the midfield section already, Isco’s talents may go to waste. We saw this last season. He wasn’t a regular starter, was given cameo roles and he couldn’t make a big enough impact in his limited game time.

But, Isco is a fine player and his time with Real Madrid is only wasting his time away. In my opinion, he would be a great asset to another club where he’d be given a bigger role.

Isco’s ball carrying, dribbling, and creative abilities are still top-notch. He could very well attract interest from Premier League clubs and is currently on the list of probable outgoings from the Spanish Capital. As such, Real Madrid’s defensive midfield is in the hands of Casemiro alone, and the club can look to swap an asset like Isco for a sporadic back-up option to Casemiro.
