Miguel Gutiérrez

Castilla’s left-back Miguel Gutiérrez will also be one of those affected by Alaba’s signing. The youngster now finds himself the fourth choice left-back at the club. It is very likely that Miguel goes on a loan or continues playing for Castilla.

When Zidane called Miguel to play for the first team at the tail end of last season, he performed impressively. Miguel was called upon out of necessity due to Mendy’s injury and Marcelo’s poor performance. For the 19-year-old, this was a crucial opportunity, and he seized it with both hands. Miguel played the final six games of the last La Liga campaign and was impressive, especially in attack. In the game against Granada, he provided a superb assist to Luka Modric.

Miguel looked very confident and sharp on the ball. His playing style is reminiscent of Marcelo’s younger days, and it seems he will enter the first team eventually. Keeping him on the team will help with the team’s depth. However, this is highly unlikely since it will hinder his development. Most likely, he will depart on loan. My colleague Eesh Jhamb has written an article about possible teams where Miguel could head on loan.

Real Madrid should avoid repeating scenarios like that of Theo Hernandez and Sergio Reguilon, as Miguel looks like a brilliant prodigy and can help the team in the future.
