LUKA JOVIC

Luka Jovic is not entirely to be blamed for his poor performances at Real Madrid as Zinedine Zidane never gave him consistency in minutes or the opportunities to flourish. The former Real Madrid manager never established a tactical identity or system for the team, which was one of the biggest reasons why so many of the club’s promising talents struggled, Jovic being one of them.

The Serbian left for Eintracht Frankfurt on a loan deal in the winter transfer window and is now back to Madrid for pre-season. Although the club is keen on selling him, the player remains committed to proving himself at the Santiago Bernabeu and show that he is worthy of playing for the Merengues despite scoring just twice in a season and a half in all competitions for them.

Ancelotti may use Jovic because he has played two strikers in his setups in the past and the player will have to take any small chances that come his way. What is clear is that he will be above Mariano Diaz in the pecking order and thus, may get a bigger amount of minutes than he ever did under Zidane. Like Hazard, he may be shown the door if he does not deliver on all cylinders.
