Real Madrid are a European powerhouse despite not having the financial backing which clubs funded from the Middle East are able to flex.
Los Blancos have set the exclamation point in footballing history more than once and are the world’s most famous sporting institution for their widespread success. They have been serial winners since their founding in 1902 and their habit of doing so has not changed even 120 years later. Their home ground, the Santiago Bernabeu, has been home to the very best players in the world, including perhaps the greatest of their generation in Alfredo di Stefano and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, since the latter’s departure, there has been no player who has taken up the responsibility of being a galactico and taken up the honour of being synonymous to the club.
In fairness, the Whites have also slightly changed their business model and have been trusting academy players and younger signings to make the leap into the first team and eventually uphold the non negotiable demand of winning each and every game.
The current squad is no different and three transfer windows without a single signing have opened the door to one of the younger members of the squad to take up that responsibility, which is of leading the club from the front and being its face.
