Given that Real Madrid have been dormant for large parts of the ongoing transfer window, Carlo Ancelotti will be tasked with working with a very young squad.

The players at the former Bayern Munich head coach’s disposal are all ageing or are very young and thus, there remain very few of them who are in their prime. Not only does Carlo Ancelotti have the difficult task of resurrecting the forms of the likes of Gareth Bale, Isco and Marcelo, he must also help the young players get integrated into the squad as soon as possible in 2021/22.

Even if Los Blancos manage to sign Kylian Mbappe, some areas in their squad will continue to be wanting more- especially the defence and midfield departments. While Florentino Perez has parted with two of the club’s most important central defenders in a month and refused to sign any replacement, the midfield is stacked but most of the second fiddle players are youngsters.

Ancelotti seems confident about getting the job done with the players he has at his disposal even at present, but the job on his hand is a lot more difficult than it looks from the outset. Moreover, an unforgiving president like Perez will not think twice before sacking him for a second time as Real Madrid boss should the results not go the club’s way.

Which are the three young players from the squad who must take the big leap and show that they are fit to play for Los Blancos in the build-up to next season?
