Goal Scoring

At the end of the day, the goals matter the most. It doesn’t matter how talented a team is if it can’t score. But sadly, that has been the case for the past three years. Benzema is the sole goal-scoring threat in the team. The Frenchman has been carrying Real Madrid on his shoulders consistently. The wingers seem to be suffering from a goal drought.

Real Madrid wingers Hazard, Vinicius, Asensio, and Rodrygo contributed 19 goals and 18 assists last season. That perfectly depicts the state of affairs Real are going through. Vinicius’ lack of finishing is a constant lack of concern. Asensio has been a bystander whenever he has played. Hazard could contribute if not for his never-ending injury record, and Rodrygo is a jewel but had to play out of his preferred position. Proper management of these players is quintessential to achieve domestic success. There is yet another task of utilizing Luka Jovic so that he can be a spark off the bench.

In this article, my colleague Sai Siddhartha discusses how Real Madrid can increase production from their wingers. There is so much to look forward to the way Ancelotti lines up the attack next season. The Italian would have to devise a plan to maximize the goal contribution from the wingers. From changing Asensio’s position, improving Hazard and Bale’s fitness to refining Vinicius’ finishing, there’s a lot of work for the manager to do for a shot at winning La Liga next season.
