Carlo Ancelotti returns to Real Madrid for a second tenure having been fired six years earlier by the club in rather harsh circumstances.

The Italian tactician failed to land a piece of silverware in the 2014/15 season and that led to his dismissal, despite the fans and players being very vocal in their support of the manager. However, Florentino Perez is a tough man to convince and just one day after the end of the trophyless campaign, Ancelotti was relieved of his duties in May 2015.

His first match back was a 2-1 defeat to Rangers, but in fairness to him, Ancelotti had to do with a lot of fringe players and it was only a pre-season friendly after all. In about a fortnight’s time from now, the official season will start and Ancelotti’s prime focus would be to La Liga as he hopes to secure another personal achievement, which is of winning all of the top five European leagues.

In his second tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu, the manager has a squad that is much inferior to the one which he took over in 2013. There are several gaping holes that are there see and to make matters slightly worse for him, the club’s directorial heads are only focused on Kylian Mbappe and not the other areas of the squad, for instance, the centre of defence.

Nonetheless, one could trust Ancelotti to put his experience to good use. What are the three things he must do which he did not do in his previous stint?
