CRISTIANO RONALDO IS A VOCAL AND EXPERIENCED LEADER

Cristiano Ronaldo is a very vocal and experienced leader. Although he has never captained at club level, his leadership qualities have been there for all to see even without the armband. Moreover, while captaining his national team, Ronaldo has won two international trophies and has also been a source of massive motivation for the players around him in getting the best out of them.

Given that Sergio Ramos and Zinedine Zidane have both left the club now, Real Madrid lack a figure of such profile. While Marcelo, Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric- just to name a few players- are all great leaders, but in press conferences and on the field, they are not the most vocal of players and do not necessarily pull the levels of their teammates’ performances up either.

If Ronaldo had not left for Juventus three years ago, he would have been the team’s captain ahead of Benzema, especially because Marcelo is unlikely to play regularly despite his newly rewarded status. In that regard, Ronaldo promises to be a terrific signing even though he is 36 years old. Needless to say, he also has a very good relationship with most of the existing squad members.
