Real Madrid: 3 reasons why Florentino Perez is hurting his standing as president

HE HAS TARNISHED THE CLUB’S IMAGE
Florentino Perez is an ideal businessman and quite arguably, the best person to run a club in the midst of a pandemic. Real Madrid are among a handful of clubs who have not suffered losses equivalent to a bumper windfall in recent months and that has to be credited to Perez. However, his recent fiasco surrounding the European Super League has harmed the club’s image too.
While Perez did call out UEFA and their supposed illegitimate practices, he did so in a very aggressive manner and as a founding member and chairman of the project, was the subject of massive slack. He has been associated with the club as much as an owner us, but the bottom line is that he too is an employee of the club regardless of his status as a longstanding and highly successful president.
Perez did not get much respect for his involvement in the European Super League because of the fact that the competition took away some of the most traditional touches of the sport, which included but were not limited to automatic participation for some clubs from the continent. Plus, his general focus on the monetary aspect was seen as a measure to over-commercialize football.
