Real Madrid: Evaluating the five unsellable players in this summer transfer window
RODRYGO GOES
Rodrygo Goes should have been included in the list of players that cannot be sold under any circumstances. If Vinicius Jr can make the list, I do not see a clear reason why Rodrygo could not make it. The 20-year-old is as talented as Vini and is a far more complete, mature and composed player than his compatriot. Rodrygo will certainly be a key player for Carlo Ancelotti this season.
MARTIN ODEGAARD
Not so long ago, Kevin Parvizi had written an article on why Martin Odegaard should be among the unsellable players at the club. Since then, there’s been a lot of speculation over Odegaard’s future amid interest from Arsenal. It has been reported that the Norway international is keen on returning to the Emirates Stadium and Los Blancos have set a transfer fee of 50 million euros for their attacking midfielder. A cloud of uncertainty continues to loom over Martin Odegaard’s future.
EDER MILITAO AND FERLAND MENDY
Real Madrid will certainly not be open to selling Eder Militao after selling Raphael Varane to Manchester United and letting go of Sergio Ramos. The Brazilian centre-back proved his worth last season during the business end and is expected to be a certain starter alongside David Alaba next season.
Meanwhile, Ferland Mendy has been one of the best signings for Real Madrid in recent times. The French international has helped solidify the left-flank that was often exploited by forwards due to Marcelo’s poor defending. The 26-year-old deserves to be amongst the unsellable and is one for the future.
THE EXPERIENCED VETERANS
The likes of Dani Carvajal, Casemiro, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Nacho have not been included in this list by Marca. While they have been termed as untouchables, these players are Real Madrid’s core and are some of the most pivotal members of the squad.
