Real Madrid have less than a month to sign their top transfer target, Kylian Mbappe. Los Blancos have kept Mbappe in mind for years, and the PSG superstar will very likely join the club of his dreams in 2021 or 2022. In light of Lionel Messi’s departure from Barcelona and expected move to Paris, Real’s chances of securing Mbappe this summer are higher than they have ever been.

Of course, there are other great players who have been linked to Real Madrid and could help this ailing attack. Erling Haaland and Harry Kane are among the familiar names who have been mentioned as rumored signings for Los Blancos.

And apparently, you can add Jack Grealish to that list. Although the former Aston Villa star has already made his move to Manchester City, Real nearly factored into the equation at one point.

According to a report from The Athletic, via Defensa Central, the Clarets actually called up Real Madrid and offered Jack Grealish to Los Merengues when they were unsure if City would officially complete the deal. The Citizens, of course, made it official, but not before Villa decided to use Real to get some leverage.

Real Madrid need Kylian Mbappe much more than Jack Grealish

Real, however, did not show any interest, per the report. They are so focused on signing Kylian Mbappe as their top target that they did not even consider deviating from that plan to sign a more traditional winger for their attack.

Grealish is a wonderful player, and he would have had the quality to help Real Madrid. But Los Blancos made the right choice to reject Villa’s advances and turn down Grealish, if this is indeed what transpired before the England international’s big move to the Etihad.

Real Madrid need goals. They need Mbappe. He is the most valuable player in the world, and they have played the long game to get to this point where signing him would be achievable, either this year because of a Messi deal or next year on a free transfer.

Mbappe wants Real. Real wants Mbappe. That’s all there is to it. Everything else is superfluous. Aside from a possible move for Haaland in addition to signing Mbappe, there is no other plan for Real in terms of boosting their attack, which has been in need of a difference-maker in front of goal since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure to Juventus.

While Madridistas have the utmost respect for Grealish, Mbappe is second to none in their eyes. And for good reason. Every cent must be spared for the French superstar.
