According to Marca’s Jose Felix Diaz, Real Madrid are holding their ground as they wait for a phone call from Paris Saint-Germain over the sale of Kylian Mbappe. Los Blancos do not want to push for a transfer or initiate talks at the moment and have shifted the pressure on PSG’s shoulders instead.

Kylian Mbappe’s contract runs out in the summer of 2022 and the player has not shown interest in renewing terms. In such circumstances, either PSG sells Mbappe now for over 100 million euros or lose him out on a free transfer in the following season. Meanwhile, Madrid do not want to push for a transfer as they know they could get the 22-year-old on board as a free agent next season.

However, if Paris Saint-Germain does decide on selling Kylian Mbappe this summer, Real Madrid are only a phone call away from initiating a permanent transfer. Apart from Mbappe’s contract running out in a year’s time, PSG could be forced into selling him this month due to the possible arrival of Lionel Messi.

Les Parisiens simply cannot afford to have Neymar, Mbappe, and Lionel Messi all in one team with their sky-high wages without breaching Ligue 1 Financial Fair Play rules and regulations. Kevin Parvizi has written an article on the same on how PSG might have to sell Mbappe to accommodate Lionel Messi’s lucrative deal.

It’s helter-skelter at the moment for the Ligue 1 giants and it looks like they might just let Kylian Mbappe go at the end of August.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are not interested in making any other signings in this window with David Alaba being the only new arrival. Florentino Perez wants to keep aside all the financial resources in case PSG call later on in this month for the transfer of Kylian Mbappe.

This just might be it, after several windows of being linked with a move to the Spanish capital, Kylian Mbappe could well and truly be on his way to the Santiago Bernabeu this time. Let’s wait and watch how things develop further.
