The unthinkable has unfolded before our eyes as Lionel Messi bids farewell to Barcelona after 17 seasons. According to Sky Sports, the 34-year-old is currently in advanced talks with Paris Saint-Germain, and his potential transfer to the Parc des Princes could end up benefiting Real Madrid.
In other words, Messi’s arrival at PSG could pave the path for Kylian Mbappe to the Spanish capital. The 22-year-old has been linked with Madrid for time immemorial but a deal has never materialised or gotten this intense in the past.
This time around, almost every reputed Spanish reporter/ journalist has hinted towards Mbappe signing for Real Madrid. The reports have only grown in numbers after Messi has been linked with a move to PSG. In light of that, I will analyse three reasons why Lionel Messi’s move to Paris Saint-Germain seals Mbappe’s ticket to the Santiago Bernabeu.
PSG SIMPLY CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE SO MANY SUPERSTARS
Earlier this year, Paris Saint-Germain claimed that they were expecting to lose around 204 million euros in terms of revenue. PSG were expected to remain dormant in the transfer market after portraying a hard financial struggle. On the contrary, Les Parisiens have been the most active ones instead.
Now let’s say Lionel Messi does sign for Paris Saint-Germain over the weekend and his signing is made official on Monday.
How can PSG give Neymar €30M per season, while paying €60M for Hakimi and €75M in pre-tax wages to Messi, Donnarumma, Wijnaldum, and Ramos, and even *think* about re-signing Mbappe in the same year it's expected to lose €204M in revenue? UEFA, just end the charade.

From my understanding, it would practically be impossible to accommodate Lionel Messi’s sky-high wages along with other players such as Achraf Hakimi, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Sergio Ramos without breaching a financial fair play regulation. PSG would have to sacrifice Mbappe under this condition because his contract expires next year.
