Gareth Bale is ready for his final season with Real Madrid. No matter how this one goes, there is simply no chance of him renewing with the club, and I think everyone knows that. It’s fine, though, I’d just love to see it end on a high note. Gareth Bale, while not at the peak of his powers, is still a good player and could produce good numbers for the club, sort of like a last hurrah.
Currently, Real Madrid’s options at right-wing are essentially Gareth Bale, Marco Asensio, and Rodrygo (assuming Takefusa Kubo will be loaned out and Lucas Vazquez will play as back-up to Carvajal). Out of these three, whom do you see as the most competent and useful player?
I can probably see Rodrygo making a strong case to start for Real Madrid, but even though he can play well at right-wing, I think he should get more chances to play on the left, as I’ve explained here.
But it’s well established that Rodrygo probably won’t get a lot of game time there, so at the end, whether we like it or not, he will be competing with Bale for the starting spot on the other flank. Asensio hasn’t been good on the right, and I don’t see Ancelotti playing him all that much there.
So, it’s between Bale and Rodrygo, at least according to me. Here’s why I think he will get the nod for the season.
