3. Luka Modric

And, the real discussion begins. We are now into the top three and expectedly we are into Real Madrid’s current holy grail of players. On number three cementing his position as a regular starter and arguably the most important player in midfield right now following Toni Kroos’s injury, is none other than Luka Modric. Modric is expected to run the show this season as well.

Luka Modric has renewed his contract with Real Madrid with the news trending all over the footballing community online. As such, there’s no doubt to the fact that this was expected of the club, to provide every bit of support that the Croatian wizard needs. He fought until the very final whistle last season and found a winning goal to reduce the deficit to two points, a result because of which we could hold our heads high. He also featured in our all-time list of the club’s number 10s very recently.

Under Don Carlo, the same is expected out of Lukita. It is the case every single time the Croatian steps out. His responsibilities now would be doubled following Toni Kroos’s update. That means Luka will play alongside players like Fede Valverde and Martin Odegaard and that can only be good in terms of shaping Real Madrid’s future midfield.

There isn’t much that needs to be said about his qualities, people already know. The last season, he registered six goals and six assists while chipping in with handy defensive contributions. He covered up brilliantly for the COVID-struck Kroos.

It all boils down to yet another season of incredible midfield magic.
