2. Toni Kroos

On number two, we finally have the last one of the ever-acclaimed midfield trio, Toni Kroos. Indeed, he would probably miss six weeks’ worth of La Liga action. But, that cannot negate the fact that our General in midfield is the second-best player on the squad right now.

Toni Kroos, as always, was monumental for Real Madrid this past season bagging 15 goal contributions and a few historical performances. Who could ever forget that 3-1 win against Liverpool at home in the Champions League quarterfinals? His passing is undeniably the highlight of his play and Real Madrid will terribly miss the German for the first few games of the season.

He would be expected to pick his game up from where he left at the Euros and be a crucial campaigner for Real Madrid in the upcoming season. A positive to be noted here is that his absence would open ways for the younger guns, especially Martin Odegaard, to show that he’s good enough for the team. That obviously is if he stays in Madrid for the upcoming season.

Kroos repeated his passing genius in Euros as well, which was the last time he played. He ended the tournament with eight long balls, a 92.7 % passing accuracy, and 1.3 key passes and crosses per game. If the German continues with a similar intensity after his return he can very easily make up for the lost time and end the season as a key player. As of now, all we can do is hope for his speedy recovery.
