There’s immense pressure on the board and Florentino Perez, particularly to make a galactico signing. However, Real Madrid must not ignore the team’s youth prospects.
Even though Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane have departed the club, Los Blancos still host a number of seasoned superstars with a winning resume, such as Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale among others. Nonetheless, it is fair to say that the core is ageing and the Whites need to take measures to reduce the average age of the squad.
Perez will not need to spend a fortune on doing so as the club’s first-team, along with the Castilla set-up have a large number of youngsters to pick from. Some of those players have played for the first team many times during the past couple of seasons, whereas others have been sent out on loan spells with the hope that they will blossom sooner or later.
