Kylian Mbappe Transfer Prediction: Is PSG superstar coming to Real Madrid?

Real Madrid chasing the signature of Kylian Mbappe this summer is all over the news. They have made him their priority for the transfer window, and Madridistas have been dying to hear the news of his arrival. However, we all know that transfers as big as this is not as simple. Uncertainties surround the transfer, and there is no assurance that the Frenchman will be playing at the Bernabeau in the 2021/2022 season.

If one logs in to Twitter, they will find all types of news regarding Mbappe and Los Blancos. Spanish sources continue to prompt that the World Cup winner will announce his departure as soon as this weekend, while French outlets claim that he is staying in Paris. So what is the truth? I look at the perspectives of all three parties involved and predict Kylian Mbappe’s transfer saga.

Real Madrid

While it is no secret that Florentino Perez wants Mbappe at Real Madrid, he knows the deal is not straightforward. Los Blancos have maintained a professional relationship with Paris Saint-Germain and has no intentions of being on the wrong side of a financial powerhouse like PSG. According to reports, Perez and co are ready to bid for Mbappe but will not force PSG’s hand. They will only make moves if PSG gives the green light, if not they might wait a year to sign Mbappe for free. 

Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain has no intention of letting Mbappe leave Paris this summer. Nasser Al-Khelaifi asserted that Mbappe is not for sale and he is staying at the Qatari-owned club. PSG is building a superteam and letting a player like Mbappe leave might not look good for their brand.

While Mbappe only has one year left in his contract, Al-Khelaifi is confident that with the addition of Lionel Messi, Mbappe has everything he needs in Paris to stay. Reports also suggest that they do not fear breaching the Financial Fair Play. So it might be tough to imagine a situation where PSG is willing to sell Mbappe this summer.

Kylian Mbappe

Mbappe has not renewed his contract at PSG after multiple attempts from the Qatari-owned team. Multiple reports suggest he will continue to reject any contract the Ligue 1 team offers to him. It is well established that he is a huge Real Madrid fan and dreams of playing in the white. However, it does not seem that he will force PSG’s hand to sell him either.

It will look much better on his character if he plays another season at his current club and joins Real Madrid next summer as a free agent. Furthermore, even if the rumors suggest that the French World Cup winner does not care about playing with Messi, it surely must be enticing to play with one of the best players in the world for at least one season.

Prediction

While it will be a dream come true for Madrisdistas to wake up in the morning to the news of Mbappe signing for Real Madrid, it seems more and more unlikely. Al-Khelaifi is adamant about keeping him, and Real Madrid does not want to pressure PSG to sell.

So the best course of action for Mbappe is to run down his final year at Paris and sign for Los Blancos next summer. Kylian Mbappe will be a Real Madrid player in 2022.
