Kylian Mbappe will reportedly tell PSG to open transfer negotiations with Real Madrid
El Chiringuito presenter Josep Pedrerol is often unorthodox in his style, but the man who brought Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to his entertainment program to address the European Super League – and who shares close ties with the most powerful man in Spanish football – has often been right this summer. And so when he promised a bombshell report about Kylian Mbappe on Sunday night, Madridistas stayed up to listen.
Throughout the summer, Pedrerol, amidst all the twists and turns that the market brings, has been adamant that Kylian Mbappe would join Real Madrid. And slowly but surely, his colleagues in the Spanish media joined him in droves, even as reporters in France maintained PSG’s strong hand.
On Sunday night, Pedrerol informed Real Madrid fans on El Chiringuito that PSG’s shock signing of Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has not, as Julien Laurens and others have stated, swayed Kylian Mbappe’s opinion. The Frenchman wants a Madrid move this summer.
Better yet, Pedrerol says that Mbappe will take a formal step towards making it happen. It was previously reported that Real Madrid needed Mbappe to make a public statement in order for Los Blancos to formally open negotiations with the Parisians and land their dream target.
Kylian Mbappe will tell PSG’s president to negotiate with Real Madrid
However, Perez stated that Mbappe, in lieu of speaking publicly as was posited, will request that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi begin negotiating with Real Madrid. PSG have been reluctant to start talking to the patient folks from Madrid, but that could all change with one whisper from Mbappe. If he makes it clear he wants to leave now by asking his club to negotiate with the team of his dreams, PSG could very well take the money and move forward with Messi for next season and potentially even Cristiano Ronaldo in 2022. Nothing is guaranteed, but Mbappe should have the power to call his shot. Even in the face of the staunch PSG.
Real Madrid have the money to sign Mbappe this summer, and a fee under 150 million euros would be reasonable, even if he is becoming a free agent anyway. After coming so close to winning LaLiga last season and making it to the semifinals of the Champions League with Karim Benzema as the only competent scorer and a bevy of injuries, Real know they can accomplish so, so much with Mbappe. And let’s not mention the marketing hype if he finally arrives.
With Martin Odegaard potentially on the way out, 40-50 million more euros could enter Madrid’s coffers. And Operation Mbappe may just be a success, one year earlier than expected. Pedrerol has been right about the big moves thus far, and Madridistas are begging that the “tic tac” man is right about the biggest move of them all.
