Real Madrid may reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo thanks to one man’s influence
If you thought the Kylian Mbappe transfer saga was an information overload situation, prepare for an even wilder finish to the 2021 summer transfer window. Because Real Madrid are reportedly working behind the scenes to reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo, who has reportedly been pushing for a return to the Santiago Bernabeu despite still having one year left on his Juventus contract.
For the most part, the Ronaldo to Real rumors this summer have been nothing more than whispers, and they were seemingly rubbished when Florentino Perez told everyone on national television in Spain that he did not see a return as feasible.
But it appears things have changed.
Appearing on El Chiringuito, reporter Edu Aguirre, a close friend of Cristiano Ronaldo, kept making reference to an “important manager” being interested in CR7. This important manager has reportedly been calling Ronaldo and his representation for weeks, looking to facilitate a move.
Real Madrid players, Carlo Ancelotti want Cristiano Ronaldo back
Aguirre relays that not only is Ancelotti “obsessed” with the idea of working with Ronaldo once more, but the Real Madrid dressing room would also unsurprisingly want a Ronaldo return. He reports that this deal could very well happen.
We’ll see. Real Madrid still view Kylian Mbappe as their priority, and Mbappe is apparently telling PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi to begin negotiating his exit this summer, as opposed to a free transfer in 2022. But Mbappe won’t put PSG under pressure or make any ultimatums. Therefore, PSG could very well stand pat instead of honoring the young man’s wishes.
In which case, Real could move for Ronaldo, who is on PSG’s radar as a Ronaldo replacement, presumably in 2022 when both star forwards are free agents.
Since Mbappe grew up idolizing Ronaldo and has always wanted to play at Real Madrid, could you imagine both men playing together? Ronaldo making his triumphant return to Real in 2021-2022 and then Mbappe joining him one year later?
It sounds impossible. And it probably is impossible. Perez, for all his flaws, has made impossible moves like this happen with his motivational sway, and we all know how much he loves to sign marketable superstars who can win trophies by scoring a bevy of goals.
Real Madrid fans will always want Ronaldo back. They know what he can do. They know he provides goals and, most importantly, results. We’ll see how this story develops and if Ronaldo makes a concerted effort to leave Juve, because, right now, it’s just talk. It is, however, compelling talk, as Aguirre and El Chiringuito have a positive track record with stories on Ronaldo.
