4. ANTONIO RUDIGER – CHELSEA

Antonio Rudiger has arguably been Chelsea’s most improved player from last season. The German centre-back faced an uncertain future under Frank Lampard but Thomas Tuchel’s arrival changed his fortunes.

Last season, Rudiger was an imposing figure for Chelsea and played a key role in guiding them to their Champions League victory. His performances against Real Madrid in both legs were remarkable and his impact in the final against Manchester City was world-class.

The 28-year-old has all the abilities to be a Real Madrid player and would certainly be a fantastic addition to the squad next season. Currently, the German international is in the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge making him a free agent next season.

Los Blancos bid farewell to Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos this transfer window and currently face a concerning lack of depth in the centre-back position. Rudiger’s potential free signing next season could bridge that gap and he could be a certain starter alongside David Alaba or Eder Militao in 2022.

However, signing Antonio Rudiger would not be that easy. Thomas Tuchel holds the German centre-back in high regard and will undoubtedly push for a renewal as soon as possible. If Rudiger extends his stay at Chelsea, then it’s unlikely that Real Madrid would sign him.
