Real Madrid have been hell-bent on getting Kylian Mbappe to the Santiago Bernabeu this season, but PSG haven’t been planning on letting him go, at least this season.

But, according to a source in France, all that seems to be changing very soon.

According to a report from RMC Sport, one of the most reliable sources when it comes to French Football, Real Madrid’s chances of signing Kylian Mbappe will shoot up if they make an official bid. If they make the right bid, there’s a big chance PSG accept it and let Kylian Mbappe go before the end of the summer transfer window.

This is a huge revelation because RMC Sport never reported something this strongly worded before.

Real Madrid might be able to get Mbappe this season after all

It seemed like PSG were happy to wait out another year and risk letting Mbappe go for free for the present. They were about to go all-in for the elusive Champions League trophy, with ridiculous amounts of star power their chances of winning it were much higher, and according to them, it was worth the risk.

The Parisians were hoping that all this rebuilding and star power would make Mbappe reconsider. They were hoping to convince him to sign the extension during the season.

But now, as the transfer window nears its end, reality is kicking in. PSG can cash in on Mbappe and spend the money on a replacement and some other reinforcements. They can make the team even better as a whole and I think that’s what is making them consider this.

One of the writers of this report – Loic Tanzi – is very well connected to PSG. He’s said some contradicting statements prior to this report, but he’s very well reputed and this could well be true.

Real Madrid are working on their attack and even though we have seen an improvement in that regard, the decline in defensive output has been a bit too much, and if Real Madrid are not able to fix that, they’ll be in trouble. That is, unless they get Kylian Mbappe. With the Frenchman in their squad, their offensive production significantly increases, and the decline in defense wouldn’t matter as much as it does now.

Now, there’s still a lot left to do, and not much time to do it in. But, if these reports are to be true, then we’re in for a really important final week of the summer transfer window.
