Real Madrid’s wage bill would get trimmed

As it stands, Hazard earns weekly wages of £416,000. That is a huge amount and occupies a significant proportion of the wage bill. Hazard would clear out a significant wage bill if he is sold or loaned, the latter of which is more reported. That will be essential because Mbappe would also demand a considerably high fee. Other high-earning stars like Gareth Bale are not expected to leave the club due to lack of suitors, so Hazard is perhaps the only option left to create space.

Two things could perhaps happen. Hazard is either sold for a respectable fee or is sent on loan for a season. Both the scenarios would have their pros and cons.

If Hazard is sold this summer in the remaining days of the window, he will generate funds south of 50 million euros. Although that amount is a respite in these financial trouble times, it’s still a long way below what Real Madrid paid to get him in 2019. However, another aspect of it is that if Hazard continues to underperform, his value would drop further. So Real Madrid may look to cash in on him.

If Hazard goes on loan and puts up impressive performances, his suitors and market price will increase. This will further aid the club in acquiring finances to boost other positions. However, there is always a risk that he continues to underperform at Juventus and his value drops further. Therefore, loaning him would be a more risky option.
