Real Madrid Transfers: Los Blancos in advanced talks for Camavinga
Real Madrid are leaving everything to the final days of the transfer window. They were in talks with PSG over the potential signing of Kylian Mbappe but they pulled the plug on the deal, because PSG were refusing to negotiate with Los Blancos even after a third bid, according to various sources.
Everything settled down for a little bit, and then we were hit with a shockingly quick development in a potential transfer of a different French player.
At first, it was Paul Tchoukriel who reported that Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Rennes for the transfer of talented French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
It seemed very sudden because there weren’t any rumors about Real wanting to sign the midfielder this season, but apparently, that has changed.
Real Madrid are close to signing Camavinga, per source
Fabrizio Romano, who is perhaps the most reliable journalist in world football right now, tweeted that Real Madrid have acted very quickly on the potential signing of the midfielder, and that they are looking at a deal just a little above 30 million euros, including add-ons.
The journalist said that Camavinga wants to leave Rennes now. It was also mentioned that the personal terms were agreed upon by both Camavinga and Real Madrid until 2026. There are also many journalists currently reporting that a deal is already done.
It’s an exciting development because it seemed like Los Blancos weren’t going to be signing anyone apart from David Alaba this season and the fans would have to deal with another transfer window without spending a single euro in transfer fees.
It doesn’t seem like Camavinga knew about the interest either, according to sources.
But definitely, something is better than nothing and Camavinga is a very talented player. Real have been linked with him for quite some time now and it’ll be great to see a player with that much potential play for Real Madrid.
It’s a good move from all angles: Real Madrid currently lack the depth in midfield. Their starters, Modric and Kroos are in the twilight period of their careers, and with the recent departure of Odegaard, they only have one midfielder for the present and future, Federico Valverde.
Signing Camavinga now would also mean that Real Madrid won’t have to fight off competition to sign him next season when he becomes a free agent. He’d certainly have a lot more suitors then because there would be no transfer fee involved, so that’s definitely a plus point.
As for Camavinga himself, it’s a deal that he wanted for a long time. Real Madrid have been interested in him for around two seasons, and it’s finally happening.
Everyone was expecting a different Frenchman to sign for Los Blancos, and while that is disappointing, the club is signing an incredibly talented player who’s hopefully going to be around for a really long time.
