One of the craziest transfer windows in recent memory has finally reached its end. Many Real Madrid fans are undoubtedly taking a breather after spending the last couple of months and especially the last ten days constantly refreshing Twitter to see the latest news on Kylian Mbappe and a possible transfer to the Spanish capital.

The final result sees him staying at Paris Saint-Germain for at least another season as he’s now expected to join the team for free next year.

If that’s the case, there is no doubt that this season is a make-or-break time for some Real Madrid players who will want to cement their place in the squad before the arrival of a guaranteed starter next season.

This might seem a little overexaggerated due to Vinicius Junior’s age and the fact that he’s still learning and has shown drastic improvement so far this season, but that’s how it is at Real Madrid.

Vinicius won’t be sold or anything with the arrival of Mbappe but he needs to show his capabilities and what he can offer on the pitch so that he can continue to be the first choice when it comes to rotations and substitutions.

Vinicius has a very high ceiling and a lot of credit goes to Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelotti for both having the patience with him and giving him all the support he needs, but it’s now or never for the Brazilian.

He has already seemingly taken the left-wing for his own after impressing as a substitute in the opening two matches where he came on for Eden Hazard and was named as a starter in the last game against Real Betis.

The mountain to climb now is even higher and even though Mbappe is guaranteed a starting place when he arrives, the competition with Vinicius will be intriguing to watch as the two youngsters battle it out in their own way.
