Real Madrid: Ranking Los Blancos’ top 5 performers from August
4. Dani Carvajal
If it was Thibaut Courtois who denied Betis an equalizer, it was this man who forced Betis to search for an equalizer. Dani Carvajal’s 61st-minute strike remained the difference between the two sides at the final whistle. He made sure Real Madrid adds another three to their points tally after dropping a couple against Levante in Matchday 2.
His goal aside, Dani Carvajal chipped in with brilliant defensive work throughout the game, even though he started the game off with some uncharacteristic giveaways. He didn’t feature in the first game against Alaves and returned to the side on Matchday 2, and played really well. Carvajal played for just 25 minutes against Levante and in it, he produced a scoring opportunity with his pinpoint reading of the game. The Spaniard was the match-changing sub that landed him with a starter’s position for the next game.
In his two appearances for Los Blancos, Carvajal left an impact more visible than his teammates who appeared in all three games. He undoubtedly deserves to be on this list. It was his goal that ensured that Real Madrid would close off August as leaders of LaLiga.
After a season riddled with injuries, this season would be a crucial one for Carvajal. In his first two appearances, he has already made a statement regarding why he still is the best Right-back in world football and Madridistas hope there’s more of the same to follow.
