Ancelotti’s defence has so far shipped in four goals this season in three league matches and the clean sheet against Real Betis, the only one of the season, was a result of very laborious work. With busier fixtures coming up, the manager will get an idea of his defensive options and the short central defenders that Madrid have in comparison to Ramos and Varane may make Torres a need.
Jules Kounde would not be considered for the winter because he is not aerially superior to Torres and the only reason why Madrid would sign the Spaniard is if they struggle aerially and are undone by long balls from the opposition. With finances improving and Mbappe slated to arrive for free for the time being, an investment of 50 million on Pau Torres may be a good idea to think of.
