Real Madrid ended the summer transfer window with two arrivals and a lot of departures. Obviously, they wanted to sign Kylian Mbappe too, but they weren’t able to. They pushed for the signature of Eduardo Camavinga towards the last days of the transfer window, and ended up wrapping the deal up in a few hours.

Camavinga underwent his medical at France U-21 facilities, and will join the first team after the international break.

There was speculation about whether he’d be signed with Real Madrid’s reserve team or the senior squad. That was put to rest by Real Madrid, who revealed his kit number on Wednesday.

Camavinga will wear the number 25 this season for Real Madrid

Camavinga took the number 25 out of the three options available to him. He had the option to wear 5, 19 and 25, and he ended up choosing the number that was last worn by Brazilian prodigy Rodrygo Goes last season. As we know, the first team of every club has to wear one of the first 25 numbers in La Liga.

Camavinga is going to be a huge help for Real Madrid this season. Martin Odegaard left the club not too long ago, and the team was in serious need of depth for the present and talent for the future. The signing of Camavinga helps a lot because he’s only 18 years old. He’s talented enough to make a bunch of appearances for Real Madrid.

He’d help a lot if/when one of the team’s starting midfielders gets injured or suspended, because that’s when he’ll truly get the opportunity to show the world how good he is.

Camavinga can also form a double pivot with Fede Valverde in case Casemiro gets injured or suspended, which would be much more well-structured defensively than anything Real Madrid have tried to do in the last couple of seasons.

Time will tell how far Camavinga goes with Real Madrid, but I think it’s going to be a fun ride. He’s a fantastic player who will only go up the pecking order, and his arrival helps Modric the most, since he’ll require more rest as the season goes on.
