Europe undoubtedly is the most attractive destination for footballers worldwide due to the sheer money concentrated in UEFA and its member clubs. And, it is no surprise that some of the best talents that the footballing world has ever seen were all players who based their football in Europe. In the current times too, there hardly is a continent better than Europe for top-class footballing action and player development.

As such, this article attempts to rank Europe’s best strikers in action right now who would be playing in the continent’s most prestigious club competition, the UEFA Champions League’s upcoming 2021/22 edition.

5. Borussia Dortmund ST Erling Haaland

To start off the list on number five, we have a player who has been the talk of the town throughout the transfer window but rather he decided to stay where he was and battle for Champions League glory. Borussia Dortmund’s young prodigy, Erling Haaland has surfaced up as one of the best strikers and unlike Kylian Mbappe or Federico Chiesa who do much more than just scoring goals, Haaland is someone who justifies the Striker’s tag in its real sense.

He is a true threat in front of goal and his shots are not any slower than rockets. He can finish from any given angle and undoubtedly is the latest crowd favorite in the Signal Iduna Park. He scored a team-highest 27 goals in the Bundesliga in season 2020/21 alongside assisting his teammates for 11, per WhoScored. Dortmund’s Champions League campaign was limited to the quarterfinal stages and there too Haaland was the highest scorer for the German club with 10 goals and two assists.

This season too, he has started on the front foot with three goals and two assists in the Bundesliga so far from the three games. He scored a hat-trick in the very first competitive game of the season against Wehen Wiesbaden in a first-round fixture of the DFB Pokal. It is, therefore, clear that Haaland hasn’t taken a step back rather he picked up this season from where he left in the last one.

A major reason behind choosing to stay in Dortmund was the Champions League and the team was seen pushing for a straight qualification by the end of last season. Now, that Dortmund has safely qualified it would be all the more a reason for Haaland to leave a mark in what could be his last season for the German Club.
