LW Vinicius Junior

Vinicius Junior had a dream August. After scoring three goals in under an hour of total action as a substitute against both Alaves and Levante, Vini was fantastic in his first start of the campaign last weekend at the Benito Villamarin. He was untouchable with the ball at his feet, completing seven dribbles. Vini worked hard defensively and had the pass to Karim Benzema’s crossed assist for Dani Carvajal’s winner. The Brazilian winger has done a bit of everything for Real Madrid, but, most importantly, he has been confident and efficient in front of goal. Long may it continue for the future superstar.

Rating: 9.0

LW Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard did not start against Real Betis, as Carlo Ancelotti wisely took advantage of the man with the hot hand on the left side of the attack. However, that doesn’t mean Hazard has played poorly. Although it is becoming clear that his future lies in the center of the attack, either as a 10 or a backup false nine, Hazard has made his presence felt with exquisite touches on the ball. How else can we describe his assist to Benzema against Alaves? Hazard must be careful to make sure his influence remains consistent, as he was not present enough against Levante.

Rating: 6.0

CF Karim Benzema

Vinicius Junior was Real’s best player in August and deserves the effusive praise, but it says a lot that Karim Benzema also had a phenomenal month but has not received as many plaudits. Karim is so prolific that Madridistas have come to expect this kind of production from the French forward. A cynic might even say they still take him for granted. Anyhow, Benzema had a brace on Matchday 1 at Alaves, a brace of assists in the draw at Levante, and the winning assist in the third road match to start the season at Real Betis. Benzema is the perfect center-forward, and we have seen his creativity, work rate, and efficiency on full display in 2021-2022.

RW Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale was anonymous without Luka Modric and Toni Kroos on Matchday 3 against a tough Real Betis side that made the game very, very open. Bale looked good in the other two matches, though. He was positive at Alaves and grabbed an early opener against Levante. Bale is not going to be the most consistent performer for Real Madrid from game to game because of the nature of his playing style, but as long as he is working hard and scoring here and there, Madridistas should not take issues. He is their best option on the right side of the attack.
