Real Madrid prepare to take on Celta Vigo as they finally return to the Santiago Bernabeu for the first time in over a year. The team will be ready to cement this occasion with a victory but some changes to the lineup will be expected as players such as Eder Militao, Federico Valverde, Carlos Casemiro and Vinicius Junior may not be picked as they play with their international teams on Friday with this game being played on Sunday. With an eye on the Inter Milan match in midweek, Carlo Ancelotti will probably not take any major risks.

Goalkeeper:

At least Ancelotti won’t have too much to worry about here as Thibaut Courtois will be the goalkeeper as always and he will be coming off a couple of strong performances with Belgium throughout the international break to keep his self-esteem up high.

Defenders:

Due to the fact that some of the South American players won’t take part, this messes up with all parts of the team except for the goalkeeping position. All signs point to another start for Dani Carvajal after he impressed in his first match back since his injury while another player to be welcomed back is Nacho who is also expected to start. Alongside him will be David Alaba in place of Eder Militao and on the left, we could see another start for the insanely talented Miguel Gutierrez. Marcelo is back in training and so is Ferland Mendy so we could see one of them get some minutes – possibly Mendy – but it may be too soon for him to start the game.

Midfielders:

If Casemiro and Valverde both aren’t picked to start by Ancelotti (which is what we expect) then some massive changes will be happening here. Antonio Blanco could get his first start of the season and after his impressive performances under Zinedine Zidane last season, it will be very interesting to see him on the pitch for the senior team once again.

Eduardo Camavinga could start with Antonio Blanco, Isco in the Real Madrid midfield vs. Celta Vigo

In front of the young Spaniard will be Isco who has done well in his first game out but struggled to impress in the latest match so he’ll have a lot to prove. Next to him will be the player the most will want to keep their eyes on as he makes his Real Madrid debut after signing for the club on deadline day: Eduardo Camavinga. With Fede and Casemiro out, Camavinga could have a golden opportunity to play at the Santiago Bernabeu and show what he’s truly capable of. Expect Luka Modric to get some time on the pitch as well during the game as he returns from injury.

Forwards:

Up front, it looks like Ancelotti will go back to the front three that he started the season with. Gareth Bale comes off of a very strong showing with the Wales national team while the same can be said for Eden Hazard. Both players have a lot to prove as they aim to make this season a very memorable one and they will be lead by Karim Benzema up front who will want to continue his impressive start to the current season.
