What if Carlo Ancelotti feels tempted to start Ferland Mendy on Matchday 4? If the Real Madrid defender is ready to play, Don Carlo may believe that there may not be a point in holding the French fullback out of the XI, given how important he is to the team.

Of course, because Mendy is so important, the sensible strategy is very likely the best one, which means Miguel starts on the left-hand side.

Mendy has a chance to start, though, so we should list this formation as one of the possibilities at the Santiago Bernabeu.

No matter the position or standing as a starter or substitute, it will be great to see Mendy back on the pitch. Madridistas have taken well to the former Lyon man, as he’s been the best signing of the summer 2019 transfer window thus far. Eder Militao may have something to say about that, but, for now, Mendy’s standout defensive work has set him apart.

Against Celta Vigo and with injuries in central defense, Ancelotti may prioritize that defensive quality. After all, his tactics and understanding with players like Vinicius Junior have enabled Real Madrid to show more attacking potential in the early part of 2021-2022.
