3 Real Madrid players under the most pressure at the Santiago Bernabeu with fans back

Real Madrid marked their return at the Santiago Bernabeu after 560 days with a resounding victory over Celta Vigo. Carlo Ancelotti claimed his first victory at the Bernabeu for the 2020-21 season with a 5-2 triumph.

The Santiago Bernabeu welcomed back well over 20,000 fans on Sunday evening who were treated to a phenomenal brand of attacking football by the hosts. The opening fixture at the Bernabeu had it all including a Karim Benzema hattrick, another Vinicius Jr goal and a debut goal from Eduardo Camavinga.

The reopening of the stadium has certainly sparked a positive spirit and enthusiasm amongst the fans and the players. While it’s always nice to have fans back in the stadium, there’s also the added factor of pressure that falls on the players to perform.

With Real Madrid now set to play all their home fixtures at the Bernabeu, here are three players who would have to deal with the most pressure with fans back in the stadium.

DAVID ALABA – DEFENDER

Real Madrid missed David Alaba on Sunday evening against Celta Vigo. The Austrian was ruled out from the fixture due to a muscular overload and joined Gareth Bale and Luka Jovic in the list of absentees for the fixture.

While Alaba has performed exceptionally well so far, the former Bayern Munich ace is yet to play in front of a fully packed Santiago Bernabeu. Since Madrid parted ways with both Ramos and Varane, the pressure on David Alaba to perform is sky-high and it has only doubled after he received the number 4 jersey.

So far, Alaba has done more than enough to win the supporters faith but the same level of performances will be expected from him at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Given his age (29) and his experience at the highest level, one can be certain that David Alaba would be soaring success even at a packed Santiago Bernabeu. Pressure does not seem to have an adverse effect on the Austrian.
