Real Madrid’s young stars in midfield

In addition to Miguel Gutierrez and Vinicius Junior, Real Madrid have two more young players worth getting excited about this weekend. Well, they have an additional forward to talk up in Rodrygo Goes, but he is probably not going to start, even after his clutch winner at Inter.

Eduardo Camavinga was the other clutch young man on Wednesday night with his brilliant run and calm assist for the Brazilian right winger, and while he may not get his first start for Real Madrid this Sunday, it’s easy to envision him making a difference in any capacity. Camavinga is averaging 5 goal contributions per 90 with Real, as he has scored and assisted in his first two appearances with the club in his brief time on the pitch off the bench.

Fede Valverde is another future world-class midfielder in the Madrid ranks. Valencia are no doubt familiar with the Uruguayan, who showed his lungs this past week. After playing for Uruguay on Thursday, he was on the pitch for Los Blancos in Sunday’s Santiago Bernabeu return vs. Celta Vigo. And then, he was all over the field in the 1-0 win over Inter to open the Champions League.

These two midfielders will be important to Real against Valencia. Their energy and quality on the ball are difficult to match. With Toni Kroos out, their importance has risen. Los Blancos can use them as their wild cards against the Bats this weekend.
