The 2021-22 winter transfer window could be a game-changer for Real Madrid to further improve their squad. The Merengues have been linked with Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe for the past couple of seasons and the French duo is now on the back of expiring contracts that run out in 2022.

Given their contractual situation with their respective clubs, Real Madrid are legally permitted to commence negotiations in January and agree on a pre-contractual agreement for a transfer at the end of the season.

At the moment, it seems like Kylian Mbappe’s pre-contractual agreement would be a far easier task than that of Paul Pogba, who seems to be in two minds about extending his contract following the sensational return of Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.

The 28-year-old midfielder has previously shown his affinity towards Real by stating it’s his “dream club”. Meanwhile, Pogba’s super-agent, Mino Raiola, has hinted at the uncertainty of his client’s future as his contract expires next year in June.

"“Paul Pogba is out of contract in June, so we’ll talk with Man Utd and we’ll see what happens. Juventus? Paul still loves Turin. There’s a chance that Pogba will return to Juventus, yes – but it also depends on Juventus plans” – Via Fabrizio Romano"

Raiola has not mentioned Real Madrid’s interest but it’s no secret that Los Blancos are still interested in the 2018 World Cup winner. Juventus are in the race to get their former midfielder back but given their current situation post-Ronaldo under Massimiliano Allegri, it seems like Pogba would prefer moving elsewhere if he is to leave Manchester United next year.

If the 28-year-old decides against renewing his stay at Manchester and pushes for a move to the Spanish capital instead, here are the three current Real Madrid players that would benefit from Paul’s Pogba’s possible arrival.
