Real Madrid have their sights on the UEFA Champions League as they take on Sheriff Tiraspol on Tuesday night after a disappointing 0-0 draw against Villarreal during the weekend in La Liga with Carlo Ancelotti expecting to make some major rotations to the squad in order to rest some of his key starters.

Goalkeeper

For the first time this season, a change will be expected here. Ancelotti recently admitted that he wants to give Andriy Lunin some minutes and said that he will do so soon. With the Copa del Rey still far away, it seems like the Italian manager had his sights on this game to give the Ukrainian goalkeeper some minutes while benching Thibaut Courtois for the first time this season.

Defenders

With Dani Carvajal still out injured, Ancelotti has struggled to find someone who he feels is best to back up the Spaniard but it looks like Lucas Vazquez will be given a chance to impress again after a couple disappointing performances. We know what Vazquez is capable of and hopefully he can bring back the form that earned him a new contract last season.

In the center, would it be too far to predict a Jesus Vallejo start? Could be the perfect chance to give Eder Militao some rest while the man accompanying Vallejo will be David Alaba to provide some solidity and leadership at the back. Miguel Gutierrez should start on the left as he has impressed whenever used this season and deserves as many minutes as possible with Ferland Mendy and Marcelo both very close (fingers crossed) to returning from their injuries.

Midfielders

It’s difficult to predict what Ancelotti has in mind when it comes to our midfield but this is possibly the perfect chance to give Antonio Blanco the match time he has needed while Eduardo Camavinga will start the second game since his arrival to the club. Both these youngsters have a future at the club and they’ll need these minutes in order to continue growing. Expect Marco Asensio to be benched after starting the past two matches with Isco providing the skills to move Real Madrid forward on the night.

Forwards

There is no doubt about the fact that Eden Hazard needs to start this game as a good performance here can do wonders for the Belgian. On the opposite side, is it time to give Vinicius a little bit of a rest? Rodrygo Goes could be the replacement on the night as he simply loves Champions League nights. Up front, Luka Jovic needs to start the match as well. The Serbian was promised minutes and why not give it to him and rest Benzema for the upcoming league matches?
