Dani Ceballos injury: Real Madrid midfielder will miss even more time than expected
Real Madrid have had quite a few injuries this season, most of them to their midfielders. If we think about it, Luka Modric was out for a little bit, Kroos has been out since the Euros, but he will be back for the game against Sheriff, as confirmed by the official team sheet. Dani Ceballos is another name that hasn’t really seen minutes this season, and that’s because of the injury he picked up during the Olympics. He had a pretty bad injury in Spain’s game against Egypt.
Ever since then, Ceballos has spent time away from the pitch, trying to recover as soon as possible. Real Madrid kept him around because they wanted more depth in midfield, and even more so after the departure of Martin Odegaard. However, Ceballos still hasn’t featured for the squad and it seems like the trend will continue.

According to Edu Aguirre, after new medical tests, it is reported that Dani Ceballos still hasn’t recovered, and will take at least a month more to fully recover from his injury.
This is a very unfortunate situation for the Spaniard. He spent his whole summer talking about how he is going to prove to Carlo Ancelotti that he’s Real Madrid material, and he’s good enough to feature for the first team if he is given a chance.
But that chance has not come around yet, and it will be a while until we see Ceballos back in action.
To make things a bit worse for him, Real Madrid signed Eduardo Camavinga during the final days of the summer transfer window. Now, the Spanish midfielder is even further down the pecking order, and it will likely stay that way even after his return because of Camavinga’s great performances for the club even in the limited minutes he has gotten so far.

Dani Ceballos will now hope to recover in time for Real Madrid’s games in November, and somehow try to feature as much as possible, but it just doesn’t seem all that likely. That’s why I think going out on a loan would’ve been a better choice. It’s still not too late, as he can leave in January in search of more minutes, if things don’t work out for him with Los Blancos.
