Eden Hazard

Hazard’s time in the Spanish capital has been nothing short of a nightmare. Crippled with injuries and fitness issues, he has spent the better part of the last two seasons on the sidelines. Even though he has been available this season, he does not look like the player he once was. He has managed to show glimpses of creativity especially with the Belgian side where he played with flair, but still struggled to make the impact expected from him.

Hazard’s lack of defensive contributions has grown more imminent as his offensive decline persists, being a liability for his side at times. Both defensively and offensively Vinicius Jr. has outperformed him and rightly won the starting spot. Taking into account Vinicius’ emergence and the possible arrivals of Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, it does not make sense for Real to keep an expensive player like Hazard on the wage books.

Hazard bags the most money amongst the squad and spending that much on a player who will most likely be an impact sub at best is irrational. Hazard might even have to take a pay cut since it will be difficult to find suitors for him. But this is something that will benefit both parties as it will give the Belgian skipper to revive his career elsewhere and be in shape for his national team.
