CF Karim Benzema

The best player for Real Madrid, by some distance. Everything good went through the Frenchman, as has been the case in the majority of Real Madrid’s games. He tried to make things happen and took a few half-decent shots in the first half, but he wasn’t really performing as well as he could. But, the Karim Benzema we saw in the second half is the person that everyone loves. He scored an amazing goal after dribbling past two defenders. After that, he laid the ball off to Eden Hazard, who scored incredibly from the edge of the box, but was correctly ruled out for offside. Benzema was the only source of any offensive production from Real Madrid in the second half. He had a couple of weird moments, like that cross towards the end of the game, but in general, fantastic game from the Frenchman, even though it wasn’t enough.

LW/LF Vinicius Jr

Vinicius was the only form of width for Real Madrid on the left, and even he wasn’t really providing a lot of it, but he did just about enough. He did usual Vinicius things, causing chaos in the box. He was much better in the first half than he was in the second, in my opinion, as his influence slowly died down as the second half started. There wasn’t a whole lot, to begin with, but he wasn’t the worst player on the pitch. In fact, he was better than most, because at least the intent was there. But definitely one of his weaker performances of the season.
