Real Madrid: 3 bold predictions after October’s international break
By Sudhir Salvi
EL CLASICO WILL DECIDE HOW MUCH THE FANS BACK THE TEAM
Real Madrid face Barcelona at Camp Nou on October 24 in a game that is a win or a win. Any other result will not be tolerated by the fanbase particularly given that the Blaugrana are rooted deep into a crisis and with all due respect are fielding some of their worst starting elevens in the century. A draw will also send the alarm bells ringing in the Spanish capital, in all honesty.
Carlo Ancelotti has had the virtue of time so far despite being winless in four of his 10 matches as the head coach but losing El Clasico could change that. The players will know that better than anyone else, particularly because all of them hold this manager in high regard and know the goods he can bring in should the squad play to his liking, which so far they have to be fair.
While a win against Barcelona would keep the Merengues hot on Atletico Madrid’s heels for the title, it will also boost the team’s morale for the rest of the campaign. Although Barca are debilitated, El Clasico is a special occasion and the rivalry is unmatched. This game will be particularly important in deciding Ronald Koeman’s future in Catalonia too.
