Real Madrid need to let go of the players that don’t fit in their plans for the future. There are many players in this squad that are either not good enough for a team of Real Madrid’s stature, or they haven’t been playing as well as they can. One of them is Marco Asensio, a player that was considered the future of Real Madrid’s attack at one point. That obviously hasn’t gone to plan.

According to Tomas Gonzalez of ABC Deportes, Real Madrid have put Marco Asensio on the market. I don’t think they see the player in their plans anymore. Asensio is simply not the player that can carry the club forward, and is too inconsistent for regular game-time as a starter, as we saw earlier this season.

Asensio rejected offers from other clubs to play for Real Madrid this season

This summer, there were offers from other clubs for Asensio, but Carlo Ancelotti wanted him to stay at the club because he saw him in his plans. He thought that he would be able to convert Asensio into a midfielder so that the clutter in the attack is reduced a little. That’s why Asensio, according to this report, rejected an offer from Juventus. It didn’t quite work out as well as Ancelotti wanted it to, which is why they’re finally open to parting ways with the forward.

According to the report, there is no way that Asensio leaves the club for free. The Spaniard’s current contract expires in 2023 and he’d have to be transferred either in January or in the summer of 2022 so that the club gets a fee. If there are no offers, they’d offer Asensio a renewal, which would allow them to attain a fee later on, since, again, they don’t want him to leave for free.

The report also states that Juventus, Milan and Liverpool are interested in his services.

Honestly, I see Asensio going to either Juventus or Milan, since Liverpool have enough firepower up top as well as in midfield, so they don’t really need Asensio. Plus, Liverpool usually go for a high-intensity, high-pressing system which involves a lot of work from all players involved. Asensio doesn’t have great stamina, neither is he great defensively, so it wouldn’t really make sense for Liverpool to sign him.

Juventus or Milan could work, and honestly, I hope one of those two clubs signs him because his career is being wasted at Real Madrid, and a fresh start could work wonders for him.
