2. Bayer Leverkusen AM Florian Wirtz

Finishing on the runners-up position on this list is the player who is in the best form right now compared to all other players on this list. He has nine goal contributions in six league games in the season so far. He scored two more in the Europa League in two appearances and assisted one in the World Cup qualifiers for Germany. With six goals and six assists so far in the season from 11 games, Bayer Leverkusen’s attacking midfielder, Florian Wirtz has truly been among the goals.

The 18-year-old German International is another Bundesliga gem that one could categorize as a future Superstar. And Wirtz shows all signs that he is capable of the tag. At just 17 years of age, he became Bayer’s mainstay in midfield clocking more than 2200 minutes and grabbing five goals and five assists in the 2020/21 season. He has also been effective for the German club at the European stage. In 2020/21 he had two goals and two assists and this season too, he has started on the high having scored two goals in two appearances already.

His stats speak for his game. He is a creative player who places key passes with regularity. He averages two keys passes per game in the Europa League and 2.5 each game in the Bundesliga so far. He has also been improving his numbers in long balls which has gone up to 2.5 every game in the Europa League, per WhoScored. There have been similar minute improvements in his through balls as well. This is indicative of the fact that he is trying things on the pitch.

He is someone who will not shy away when he is asked to sit deep and defend. His numbers in tackles are pretty impressive and that accounts for a very well-rounded midfield presence for any side. He is a talented young man who is very similar to the skillsets that Gio Reyna possesses. The only thing edging him up is a little more experience and playing at a weaker club and still producing the goods. Overall, Wirtz can be a great option for Real Madrid’s future in the longer run.
