As you may have already read, Newcastle United have new owners and are now the richest club in the world following their takeover by the Saudi Public Investment Fund. The Magpies had undergone a turbulent period under Mike Ashley’s tenure but the fans now look forward to brighter and bigger things at the club following the Saudi Public Investment Fund take over. We can’t expect them to turn into clubs of Real Madrid’s stature just yet, but it’s a gradual process and I think Newcastle would become one of the biggest clubs in football in a few years.
The new owners have an estimated net worth of 434 billion euros, making the Magpies the richest club in the world, according to MARCA. A new era awaits Newcastle and the fans can finally dream of signing top professionals from the biggest clubs in Europe and assembling a squad that can dominate English football.
In light of Newcastle United’s takeover, I’ve come up with a list of Real Madrid players that the Magpies can consider signing either in the January transfer window (which is unlikely) or in the next summer transfer window after the completion of the 2021-22 season.
JESUS VALLEJO- CENTRE BACK
While I mean no disrespect to Jesus Vallejo as a footballer, I doubt there’s any Real Madrid fan in the world that wants the Spaniard to continue at the club. Vallejo is just not cut from the cloth that’s required to be a Real Madrid player, honest truth.
Carlo Ancelotti certainly does not have the 24-year-old in his plans and would most likely even use Ferland Mendy (who is a left-back) as a centre-back over Vallejo in an emergency situation. Jesus Vallejo does not have a future at Real Madrid and it would be only wise for all parties to agree for a transfer.
Now, why would Newcastle United want Vallejo? Well, that’s a good question. While he’s certainly not a generational talent or an exceptional centre-back, he does have quite a good CV. He’s won the Champions League with Real Madrid, he’s played for the likes of Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Steve Bruce needs an experienced centre-back in his team, and although Vallejo does not exactly meet the requirements, he does have a strong shot at being a potential signing. Newcastle United would not have to spend a large chunk for the 24-year-old and could focus on using the rest of their financial resources on other positions and signings.
