For the third season in a row, Luka Jovic finds himself struggling for regular game-time at Real Madrid. Yes, I know, the season has just started, but Real Madrid have played 10 games, and Jovic has only been seen in a Real Madrid shirt for 84 minutes this season. That’s not a good total even for a substitute.

We can’t blame anyone either. Karim Benzema has simply been balling out this season, with 10 goals and seven assists in just 10 games. Those are MVP numbers, and we can’t blame Carlo Ancelotti for not starting Jovic when his counterpart has been in the form of his life. They can co-exist as well, but that’s something Ancelotti hasn’t really tried yet.

Anyway, it seems that Luka Jovic would once again grow tired of his minutes, or lack thereof, and would look for another club. Well, right now, according to a report from AS via La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan are interested in signing Luka Jovic this January.

According to the report, Inter are no longer looking to sell their important players like they did with Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi in the summer. They just want to get Alexis Sanchez off the books so that they don’t have to pay him that hefty salary anymore.

They want to buy a couple of players to improve the team, and Jovic is exactly what they’re looking for.

Would it make sense for Jovic to leave Real Madrid for Inter Milan?

Jovic is very talented, is an experienced player, having played in both La Liga and Bundesliga. He’s also determined to make an impact and show everyone what he’s capable of, which should happen if he moves to Inter. They have some good players up top, but frankly, none of them matches the quality of Karim Benzema and that alone should give Jovic hope for more game-time in Italy.

Other than that, Inter’s game is heavily reliant on physical strikers being up for crosses and cutbacks, something Jovic is a master of. Edin Dzeko, their current starter, is 35 years old and Inter would want a younger striker to replace him in the long run.

As for Jovic himself, it all depends on whether he wants to make it work at Real Madrid or not. It’s true that he hasn’t featured in many games so far, but the season has just started, and with Benzema now playing for the French national team as well, more game-time is bound to come Jovic’s way as Ancelotti would look to rest Benzema against comparatively weaker opponents, something he has been vocal about.

The Italian coach wants Benzema to get some rest so that he’s able to play at the top level during the business end of the season. If Jovic leaves, Carlo will have to either play Benzema more, or go with Mariano, a player who simply isn’t good enough for Madrid, and one that hasn’t featured even once this season.

But, it would make sense if Jovic decides to move. After all, he is young, talented, and he needs consistent game-time to improve and show what kind of player he is. If he is not getting it at Real Madrid, he will look elsewhere. If this report is true, then it’ll be very interesting to see what decision Jovic makes in January.
