For a club like Real Madrid, the grind doesn’t stop. Every day they are looking for players that may have the potential to play for the club in the long run. Their focus may be on one single player at the moment, but that doesn’t stop them from looking at other options for the future in different positions.

The club, according to reports from MARCA, are now looking at another Frenchman, another midfielder. After buying Eduardo Camavinga in the summer and having already shown so much interest in signing Paul Pogba over the years, the Real Madrid board are now looking at Aurelien Tchouameni, a great defensive midfielder with a very high ceiling.

According to the report, Real Madrid have been looking at Tchouameni for a while, and his obvious similarities to Casemiro have made the club interested in signing him. Of course, they’re not the only club, with Juventus and Chelsea also being interested, but Madrid is a great spot for any footballer who is good enough, and the club believes that Tchouameni could become one of them.

He also started for the French national team against Spain, a game full of controversy and excitement, which ended in a 2-1 win for France. Tchouameni is one of the more sought after defensive midfielders in Europe, and Real are definitely looking for a player like him.

Do Real Madrid need Tchouameni?

Even though Los Blancos already have Antonio Blanco, another defensive-minded midfielder, the Spaniard just isn’t the like-for-like replacement for Casemiro, which is why they’re still looking at other options. He’s definitely considered one for the future, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be competition for a spot in the first team.

As for Tchouameni, he’s strong on the ball, he’s not afraid to do the dirty work, he’s great at reading the opponents and figuring out their next move, which is something we’ve all grown accustomed to with Casemiro’s defensive IQ.

Tchouameni’s game needs a lot of polishing still, but I think that if Real Madrid do end up going for him in the summer, it could prove to be an excellent purchase as the club has been looking for a player like Casemiro. There are few enforcers like him left in the game, and having a player like him helps Real’s other midfielders and lets them open up their creative side without having to worry much about the defense.

It’s true, Real Madrid already have the likes of Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga, but signing Tchouameni would be something great for the club just because he would let those two players be the best versions of themselves.

The main thing, in my opinion, is the price. I think that if Real Madrid spend around 25-35 million on Tchouameni’s services, that would be a great piece of business, but I’m sure spending around 60 million is something that they don’t want to do.

Since Real don’t really need him right away, perhaps it would be wise to get him and then loan him out to another club for one or two seasons until he’s ready to fully transition into the player he may be bought to be.
