Zinedine Zidane, as you probably know, is one of the biggest names at not only Real Madrid, but also in world football. The impact he has had on the game both as a player and as a manager is unrivalled, almost, and it was truly great to have him as a coach at Real Madrid all these years. He is the second most successful coach in Real Madrid history. It’s just astonishing to see what all he accomplished with both a team destined for greatness, and a very depleted version of it, in two different tenures.

Anyway, he took his leave from the Real Madrid hot-seat earlier this season, and he explained why in a very detailed manner. I am pretty sure you know about it. After that was a whirlwind of rumors. Real Madrid being linked with multiple managers is something that happens every year, regardless of whether the club has a manager or not. They made the decision of bringing back Carlo Ancelotti

Zidane took a well-deserved break from coaching and, a few months later, he’s being linked to a job. Another top club named Manchester United reportedly wants him, but Fabrizio Romano has brushed those rumors aside by saying that Manchester United are still backing Ole Solskjaer.

Now, in a recent interview with The United Stand, the Italian journalist said that as of now, there aren’t any talks going on between Manchester United and Zinedine Zidane. But, he’s also said that, according to him, if Manchester United were to call Zidane offering him a job right now, he wouldn’t say no.

How well would former Real Madrid manager Zidane do with Manchester United?

I think it would actually be an excellent decision if Zinedine Zidane ends up joining Manchester United. Zidane is well suited to carry forward a team that has a lot of superstars, and he does a great job in minimizing the egotistical side of every player and make them more unified as a team, which is why I think he’ll do a great job with Man United.

He also does a great job of getting the best out of Cristiano Ronaldo, a player that was the focal point of his three-peat run at Real Madrid in his first tenure. The Frenchman knows just what to do with Ronaldo, even though he has changed quite a bit in terms of playing style. Seeing those two together would be a very wholesome moment for every Real Madrid fan, but it’ll also be kind of sad and weird, wouldn’t it?

Zidane is also well-versed with coaching Raphael Varane at Real Madrid as well, as he spent a little more time with him than he did with Ronaldo due to the coach’s second stint at the club.

He is definitely the kind of manager you get with a team like this. And besides, this team is far from complete right now, anyway. It still needs a few signings, and going for the right player is something that Zidane knows how to do. He was the one that went for Mendy, a left-back that is completely different to the one that Real Madrid have had for years. He’s the one that went for Eder Militao, a player that is slowly showing just how good he is.

It also might make big players like Paul Pogba sign an extension, as we know what kind of impact Zidane has on his players. The players want to play for him, and the coach demands the respect of the room, it’s always been like that.

But, even with all that, I am still not fully convinced if Manchester United is the next step in his already illustrious managerial career. I think it’s fair to say that he is probably the next in line to take over from Didier Deschamps as the France national team’s coach, whenever that happens. Zidane has also said how mentally draining it is to manage a top club of Real Madrid’s calibre, and Manchester United certainly falls into that category. So, maybe he’d want to manage the national team for a while instead. I might be completely off-base, but it’s just an observation.

Whatever happens, I think Zinedine Zidane won’t be unemployed, per se, for a very long time. The man loves football, and football loves him back, and if there’s anyone that can lead this Manchester United side to glory, it’s him.
